In Karate PKF’s previous article, we spoke about tips to follow to increase betting chances in MMA. These tips included looking for the fighter who smiled the most, looking for where the fight is going to take place, and if both fighters had complete training camps.

While these tips lend themselves to statistics, the fact is that in the fight game, anything can happen. In boxing for instance, there have been a great number of upsets that have happened.

Let’s go back in time and look at two of the greatest boxing upsets in history.

Foreman vs. Ali

While Muhammad Ali is considered one of the best boxers of all time, things weren’t looking so good going into his fight with George Foreman.

Foreman was in his prime. He was a very strong and fearsome competitor who had knockout power in both of his hands. People didn’t think that Ali stood a chance. Apart from Foreman’s abilities, he had also dismantled Smokin’ Joe Frazier recently.

Frazier had trounced Ali before, and watching Foreman just dismantle Frazier was enough to let people think that Ali didn’t stand a chance at all.

However, when the fight began, critics were silenced. They were seeing something special. Using his patented rope-a-dope technique, Ali outfought and outsmarted Foreman. In the later rounds, Foreman was already exhausted.

Ali smelled the blood in the water and went in for the kill. It was a knockout in the eighth round.

Tyson vs. Douglas

Round By Round Boxing

Everyone knows Mike Tyson as a beast in the boxing ring. His career was a series of impressive displays of knockouts and technique. He was virtually unstoppable. When the fight against Buster Douglas was announced, people brushed it off as another easy win for Tyson.

However, people didn’t see everything happening in Tyson’s life. He had problems in his marriage. His lifestyle was becoming toxic and unhealthy. He even had problems with his management and coaching staff.

All of it was too much, and it became apparent in the ring. Tyson lay on the ground in the 10th round. The underdog Douglas stood as the new Heavyweight Champion to the surprise of everybody.

These boxing upsets just show you that nothing is for certain when it comes to the fight game. You may have all the information before a fight, but in the ring, magic could happen and an upset could occur. This is probably why betting on fight sports is so exciting too.
